What is your pre-derby skating or athletic background?
Alpine skiing. I have skied with a pass every single year since 1993, and until recently averaged 75-100 days a year. I first learned to ski in 1969. Crazy!

How did you choose your derby name and number?
I am a photojournalist. There is an old PJ maxim “f8 and be there” which means to get your ass in the right spot and be ready for anything that comes at you. f8 is a bland f-stop, in middle of the aperture ring, boring but flexible. You can get what you need at f8, but it’s nothing special. In roller derby, it’s like positioning yourself in the middle of the track – chances are, you won’t be stopping anyone there, but you can get to either side of track easily!
Favorite non-derby workout?
Of course, I should say skiing, but I barely have skied since starting derby- so i’d have to say HIIT workouts. I love getting my heart pounding and the sweat flowing.
At practice, I am the one most likely to _____?
Say “huh?”
What is something non-derby related on your bucket list?
I want to travel the world, over three or four continents, for six months or so. Now that I am thinking about it, it would be great to anchor it to visiting other roller derby teams.
