Queen Bootycca

How did you choose your derby name?
My husband came up with it. Boudicca was a queen of the British Celtic Iceni tribe who led an uprising against the occupying forces of the Roman Empire in AD 60 or 61, and died shortly after its failure. She fought fiercely for the community she belonged to, and is a badass lady of history!

What is your pre-derby skating or athletic background?
I used to go to the local skating rink on Friday nights in middle school, but hadn’t been on skates since then until early this year. I did Irish step dancing for 15 years (competitively for about 10) and was on my high school’s crew team. I’m also a bartender which can sometimes require some athleticism.

What lessons have you learned through roller derby?
I’ve learned that falling is okay – even encouraged – because it means that you are pushing yourself to be the best you can be!

What superpower do you wish you had, and why?
Unlimited energy- so that I could skate 24/7!

Tell us about your hobbies.
I used to play a lot of pool. I was on a league in Portland before I moved up here and our team made it to Nationals in Vegas! I also love going hiking and camping with my family.
