Wild Violet

What is your pre-derby skating or athletic background?
I roller skated a lot as a kid at the local roller rink and up and down my sidewalk. When I was about twelve I fell and broke my arm and stopped skating. I really regret stopping now, because when I decided to join the team I had zero skills. I was like Bambi on ice for the first week!

How did you choose your derby name?
Wild violets have always been my favorite flower and I liked the idea of something “untamed”. I have always loved the character Shy Violet from Rainbow Brite, and I thought, “What if she grew up, stopped being shy, and played roller derby?”. As an introvert it took a huge leap outside of my comfort zone for me to join derby. Plus, I often have purple hair.

What is your “day job”?
Homeschool Mom during the day, and I also work part time as a Children’s Library Technician.

What are some of your other hobbies?
I am an artist and I paint, draw, do printmaking and embroidery art. I am also a huge bookworm and an aspiring writer.

What is one of your guilty pleasures?
Reading in the bathtub.
